@wendyburn Quite often my grandmother will ask "what have I got?" When we reply with "dementia" she's 'happy' and accepts. If we downplay the dementia diagnosis, she keeps tapping her head, then actively looks for her Dementia guide.
What would you say instead? #AskingForAFriend
This is so important. The public really get the importance of mental health and treating mental illness. Politicians must follow up with sustained increased investment to achieve true parity @rcpsych@wendyburn @DrKateLovett @WesselyS@dineshbhugra
Meet anger with compassion.
Reminds me of advising this back when a parent spoke about a bullying concern with her daughter, she wasn't impressed with it though...
If only I had this to show her what I meant :)

@wendyburn@Susanphoenix3 Personally I think it's good. Behavioural interventions take time and aren't always translatable to the home environment, in a quick time frame.
More medication options to consider are always good as an interim while behavioural strategies get embedded...
Our next webinar: Prof. John Baker speaks about COMPARE, a programme that systematically mapped interventions to reduce restrictive practices. 150 unique interventions were identified, examined & coded to see how they changed behaviour of staff. More info: https://t.co/Th4IkaKgiK
Looking to improve the quality of your care? Our Sit&See training enables you to see care through your pupil's or service user's eyes, which gives you an understanding of the differences your interactions can really make to dignity, care and compassion. https://t.co/x8jZjrdLSE
@wendyburn Thank you.
It is an area that's interesting though as how else could you word it for the individual?
Yes, I'm fortunate for now as this line of defence works... but there could be a time where this 'defence' could cause issue. What then?
Just had awesome idea: hospital d/c summary templates should be DESIGNED BY THE GPs and used by the hospital. So GPs can choose the data they want to get! Rather than every hospital having its own self-designed d/c summary template!

Am I the 1st person to think of this?!
Although the news will be dominated by you know what, it looks like reform of the Mental Health Act will be included in the Queen’s Speech tomorrow. This is good news and I hope there will be some coverage. My thanks to all who have got us this far #mhareview#mentalhealth

This is really interesting research as it was not funded by the pharmaceutical industry and involved the type of patients that GPs see ever day. https://t.co/Vb8zKCl1a7
Good point made by a trainee. “Not all questions in Psychiatry can be answered by science. What about the social and psychological determinants of illness?” #cpaconference
