I was thrilled to hear that @MiraTanenbaumMD matched at the prestigious UPenn! Mira has worked hard throughout her residency, her dedication to her patients and mentoring her junior residents knows no match. Can’t wait to see her success continue.
@GWSurgery
After what has seemed like both a long time and no time at all, I’m now a board certified surgical intensivist. So that’s pretty neat! Thanks to @GWSurgery@GW_CCM and all my mentors along the way for the never ending support/encouragement/guidance along the way.
Continuing the representation at @AmCollSurgeons meeting, Dr. Apte, PGY4 @GWSurgery, not only crushed 🔥🔥🔥her presentation… she answered the questions with poise & confidence with a big smile on her face. #GWproud#StellarSoonTobePedsSurgeon
Continuing the #GWrepresentation at the @AmCollSurgeons meeting. Dr. Haney (PGY4) eloquently shedding light on the optimal technique for emergent paraesophageal hernia repairs using NSQIP #GWProud 🙌
Proud of Dr. Tanenbaum (PGY4) for killing her presentation on “Outcomes of 5-Vessel Fenestrated and Branched Endovascular Aortic Repair”! 🔥 The hard work and dedication really showed—amazing job! 👏 #AorticSurgery#EndovascularRepair#GWproud#WomenInSurgery
I don’t care what anyone says, the blind subclavian central line is a very powerful one—especially in trauma. It’s becoming a lost art in the era of ultrasound, be we should never let it die.
Trivia of the day:
The Coudé catheter was not named after a person..."Coudé" is just a French word that means 'bent', and technically you could use it for any other device that has an angle to it if you really wanted...🤔
🧵regarding the 'Fish' -- officially known as the Glassman viscera retainer.
The Fish is an occasionally used surgical tool that is used in abdominal operations during closure of the fascia to cover the bowel, protecting it from being accidentally stuck with the needle.
