🚨 NOW: After MASSIVE pressure, FIFA has REVERSED the unfair red card against US men's national soccer team's Folarin Balogun — meaning the crucial scorer is AVAILABLE for America's next match against Belgium
LFG! PRESIDENT TRUMP: "Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!"

Had a great conversation with @AndrewMillerYYZ Changing Lanes about the future of self-driving vehicles (SDVs)—and how my research with @ReimersImke fits into the bigger picture.
Andrew's newsletter is a gold mine: rigor and clarity in how SDVs are poised to change the world
1/ In this week's CHANGING LANES, I make the case that the self-driving car will make congestion far worse... and at long last, we've got the numbers to prove it
Student paper:
"For the week leading up to my most recent midterm, I stopped going to classes. Instead, I relied entirely on class slides and ChatGPT to review ... I learned more in that week using generative AI than I did in two months in that class..."
Future of universities?
Had a great conversation with @ChuckJaffe on @MoneyLifeShow about AI's impacts on jobs, stocks (and whether OpenAI is a. good investment), consumer manipulation, books, etc., (starts at 33 minutes & 15 seconds)

@elonmusk@LeahLibresco Thank you!! Please Remember the audience, safety minded. Rear crash safety. Tempered glass. Mechanical handles. I’ll be one of many excitedly hopping right in line to buy my very first Tesla, for driving around my 4 kids!!! Hope to feature it as safest car ever on RealSafeCars
@NGKabra True. May be government can work some kind of deal with Anthropic and Google and give access to all school kids? It has been done in Western Africa according to @BenjaminShiller
It can be a win win for all parties. I wish someday our politicians will run on these issues.
@NanaFadavnis@NGKabra Great idea. If the private sector can’t make it available and develop it for education, maybe the government should step in…there are huge positive externalities!
Last summer I wrote a book with AI and felt excited. 6 months later, the speed of progress honestly scares me. If the next year looks like the last, massive job losses and many people suddenly feeling worthless won’t sound like hyperbole. I definitely don’t feel immune. Buckle up
Honored to be featured in Nick Lichtenberg’s fascinating Fortune article on the hidden economy shaping access to concerts, restaurants, and theme parks. Quite an interesting article by Nick.

@BrandeisEcon
Me: Why don’t they make the original super soaker, those were such great water guns?
Chat GPT: Short answer: they basically can’t make the original the same way anymore—because of patent expiration, safety/liability concerns, cost pressures, and changing toy regulations.
Hey @elonmusk, I’ve done my part for the birth rate—4 kids! But no new Tesla fits family of 6
Please bring Model Y L to the States, with safety wish list
1. Mechanical handles
2. Tempered glass option
With autonomy close to reality, FSD soon a dream for driving to kids activities
My podcast interview with Abhijit couldn’t be more time given Jack Dorsey’s recent announcement that they’re laying off nearly half of the employees at his company, and suggesting others will do the same next year.

People's AI worries are misplaced—the reality is actually worse. I wrote a quick explainer on a dynamic that's obvious to an economist, but surprising to everyone else:

"AI targets tasks—not adaptable, creative thinkers. Embrace that truth. Ask yourself, "Is my role something a machine could eventually replicate, or am I consistently adding unique value?" Adapt early, pivot often, and welcome change as your new steady state. Those who cling stubbornly to outdated roles will face obsolescence; those who evolve may discover new prosperity. Your ability to reinvent yourself repeatedly is the new career security. When I self-published this book, I bucked the advice of many trusted colleagues. But I knew it was important to adapt to changing markets."
