There was a multi-year campaign by Republicans, the media and the podcast manosphere to find some sort of corruption, ANYTHING on Hunter (and Joe Biden). Joe Rogan did entire episodes on it. In the end, all they came up with was that he got a job he was under-qualified for.

Meanwhile, Trump is doing the most brazen, unprecedented corruption on a massive scale and it gets reported on by the MSM one time and then everyone moves on. All the people who were obsessed with HUNTER BIDEN CORRUPTION (like Rogan and Glenn Greenwald) won't even mention it.

There are a lot of people online who make a lot of noise about the death of innocent children, but have been very quiet about this. The unnecessary destruction of USAID may be the most anti-pro-life action taken by the US government in my lifetime.

USAID was not a perfect program and reform of international development is a legitimate policy discussion. That is a separate question from whether abruptly withdrawing medication and food a child depends on to survive causes that child's death.

Dobson-Hughes's answer is the correct one: if a child needs a specific medication or specific food to stay alive and you remove it without any way for them to obtain it elsewhere, you caused their death. That is not a complicated moral or epidemiological argument. It is the definition of proximate cause.

The documented figure: over 500,000 children are estimated to have already died due to USAID cuts. Hundreds of thousands more lost parents. USAID saved an estimated 92 million lives over two decades including 30.4 million children under five. The positive trend in child mortality - halved since 1990, the first improvement in the numbers in thirty years - reversed in 2025. Around 200,000 more children are believed to have died in 2025 than in 2024. Every one of them had a name. Every one of them had someone who loved them.

The moral calculus here is simple.

For decades there was bipartisan congressional agreement to fund lifesaving programs. 80% of Americans agree with providing food and medical supplies to the worlds poorest people.

Elon was neither elected nor confirmed. He illegally and gleefully destroyed USAID, which did not save any money - in many cases he just disrupted distribution of supplies already purchased - but he did kill many children.

The closest analogy would be burning down a food bank causing people to die of starvation. It was an illegal act that was wasteful and caused harm. You can’t defend it by saying “what obligation do we have to fund food banks?”
