@bears_aware In Canada, the defence of property is governed by Section 35 of the Criminal Code. Under this provision, a person is not guilty of an offence if they act reasonably to protect real estate or personal belongings from being unlawfully entered, taken, damaged, or destroyed.
Section 34 of the Canadian Criminal Code governs the legal defence of self-defence and the defence of others. A person is not guilty of an offence if they reasonably believe a threat of force exists, act with a defensive purpose, and their response is reasonable in the circumstances.
