The Similarity Between NSCN-IM and the Pakistani Army, In a Nutshell:

The Tangkhul-led NSCN-Thuingaleng Muivah group, formerly known as the Isaac Muivah Group, reportedly received training and support from the Pakistani Army and the ISI during the 1980s.

A similar pattern of abandonment was observed during the Kargil War of 1999, when the Pakistani Army reportedly failed to acknowledge and repatriate the bodies of its deceased soldiers, despite repeated requests from the Indian Army. The Indian Army subsequently performed the last rites in accordance with Muslim customs and religious doctrine.

On April 24, 2026, NSCN-IM cadres allegedly carried out an attack on Mulam Village, inhabited by the peace-loving Kuki-Zo community. In the incident, Sergeant Major Horshokmi Jamang, 29, of Chatric Khullen village was killed and five others sustained serious injuries. The NSCN-IM leadership subsequently disowned Sergeant Major Jamang and the injured personnel, referring to them as "Village Guards" to conceal their failure.

Similarly, on July 29, 2026, following the death of NSCN-IM Second Lieutenant Lanbisin Riamei in an operation by CoBRA Commandos, it is alleged that NSCN-IM leaders distanced themselves from him and designated him as a "Village Guard" to conceal their failure.

The above incidents suggest a pattern of denial and disassociation from their own cadres, allegedly mirroring tactics attributed to the Pakistani Army and ISI.

Issued in public interest so that the people of Chandel, Tamenglong, Senapati and Noney do not fall into Tangkhul traps in the future.

After months of an economic blockade affecting Kuki areas, large numbers of Kuki students joined the ongoing counter blockade in solidarity.

The students said they could no longer remain silent while essential supplies to their communities continued to be disrupted.
They urged the authorities to act and ensure justice for those affected.

Their message was unequivocal: “You block our food, we block your food.
End the blockade, and normalcy will return.”

The protesters maintained that the counter blockade would be withdrawn immediately once the blockade on Kuki areas is lifted.

It has been reported that a group of Kacha Naga militants belonging to Tangkhul NSCN-IM and their alleged associates ZUF-Kamson have been sighted carrying sophisticated weapons on National Highway-37.

There are also allegations that they are collecting illegal taxes from truck drivers plying between Jiribam and Noney districts.

In view of the seriousness of the matter, it is pertinent to ask whether the Government of Manipur will continue to adopt a policy of “silence is the best medicine”. It is therefore earnestly requested that the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, or Cobra Forces be directed to conduct a thorough inquiry and take appropriate action to ensure public safety and the unhindered movement of goods and commuters on NH-37.

The matter is left to the sound judgement and wisdom of the concerned authorities.

Despite submitting several memorandums to the State Government, the atrocities, illegal taxation, and intimidation of truck drivers by Tangkhul cadres of NSCN-IM and their affiliates, including ZUF-Kamson, continue unabated on all National Highways connecting Manipur to the rest of India.

On Thursday, 30th July 2026, at Jibang, personnel of NSCN-IM and their affiliates, ZUF-Kamson, intercepted a truck, detained the driver and vehicle, and demanded money. The driver’s smartphone was also seized and he was not permitted to use it.

Again on Friday, 31st July 2026, at Luangba, the same group took the vehicle keys from the driver and handed him a basic feature phone in return.

Two Meitei individuals were detained by Kuki-Zo volunteers in the early hours of August 1, 2026, after they allegedly entered the sensitive Gamgiphai buffer zone in Manipur. The Zeliangrong United Front Supremo, Shri Jenchui Kamei, had earlier warned that such incidents would occur if Tangkhul NSCN-IM/Eastern Flank politics were allowed to expand beyond Ukhrul District.

He made it clear that the drunken brawl involving certain Tangkhul and Kuki individuals cannot be condoned and should not be projected as a “Pan-Naga” issue.

The incident at Bitiang, near Laphok Village on 29th July 2026, must serve as a wake-up call. How many more Zeliangrong youths will have to sacrifice their lives for the vested interests of Tangkhul NSCN-IM?

The Zeliangrong and Inpui people must deliberate seriously and stand united to protect their own community, land and future from Tangkhul supremacy.

Please refrain from blaming the Indian Security Forces or the Kuki-Zo community. You should instead ask: Who is shaking the jar? And why has nothing like this happened in Ukhrul District?
