Zoning is the reason why Boston has much MORE segregation than US metro areas that have much LESS affordable housing production. Housing Choice is a critical step forward to take the problem apart. We can't minimize how big a difference this will make.
The ED bill has neighborhood stabilization tools to protect these buyers in Brockton. Plus Housing Choice, which will give people of color without generational wealth the chance to buy into suburban communities, if that's their preference.
Thx to @mass_reps leadership for including Housing Choice in economic development bond bill. Critical jumping off point for increasing supply & reducing cost of housing in Mass. There's strong, broad-based support & it could be the beginning of a new chapter -- let's get it done.
The economic development bill should couple "Housing Choice" with strong neighborhood stabilization tools. @Juana_B_Matias shows how this complementary arrangement is a leap forward for efforts to combat residential segregation. https://t.co/dcJndU6eGZ
