@joe_srigley That makes sense. When I raced, I went by "Buster Bennet" which had been my preferred name growing up, so I understand your point. I was unaware of the distinction with Butterbean.
@joe_srigley Im confused how "Butterbean Queen" is different from Cleetus or Squirrel? It has been his name in racing for years. They arent making it up anymore than the other two. However, I agree that the over usage of nicknames is ridiculous.
@RodneyChilders4 It seems like five years of chasing a 54 between you and Clayton. Im just thankful you guys didn't race asphalt as much, at least there I had a chance of you guys not showing up!
@ThePostman68@BowmanGray33 Steve you interviewed me in 2004 at Concord as well....and I've long since hung up the wheel and you are still covering races!
@MattWeaverRA It was an amazing place to race. I must have stopped running before you came through. So much history there especially back in the Big 10 days. Awesome track.
It begins and ends with track management. Period. As a former racer who lived it with my home track Concord Motor Speedway, a place I grew up at with my dad racing then myself, a place I walked as they were adding the dog leg and was there when it was dirt, the future depends on management alone. Kevin isnt the right person to keep Hickory going. And it pains me to watch another track I raced on going south.
