The image references the Soviet Union's attempt to drill the deepest hole on Earth. This endeavor is known as the Kola Superdeep Borehole project. The project began in 1970 in the Kola Peninsula of Russia and continued for several decades. The Soviets managed to reach a depth of 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) by 1990, making it the deepest man-made hole at the time.
Despite various scientific objectives, including studying the Earth's crust and geothermal gradient, the project encountered several challenges. At certain depths, the temperatures were much higher than anticipated, and the conditions became too difficult for drilling to proceed. Contrary to some urban legends, the scientists did not encounter any mysterious or supernatural phenomena. The project was eventually halted in the early 1990s due to lack of funding and the technological limitations of the time.
The hole itself didn't reveal anything particularly "unnerving", but it did provide valuable geological data and demonstrated the challenges of deep Earth drilling. Some clickbait titles may exaggerate or sensationalize aspects of the story for attention, but the core facts about the Kola Borehole are quite fascinating in their own right.
GM $ALGO peeps ☕️
I'm looking forward to finding more about Revolut and what @AlgoFoundation is working on with them.
I use Revolut for my business, so this definitely piqued my interest.... Lets see.
On another note, hugely frustrating @coinbase is still not allowing $USDC to be transacted on #Algorand rails. Gatekeepers in this industry are just making things harder for everyone, for their short-term benefits. The biggest RWA projects are using #Algorand, yet crypto native projects that should be neutral and support dlt advances are proving to be the biggest stumbling blocks. @brian_armstrong?
@JohnAlanWoods@leakzrand@AlgoFoundation@token2049 PSA no we're not abandoning teal, we're creating a Python transpiler so you won't need to have any teal knowledge to actually develop for Algorand, our aim is that with python you can do 100% of the things you can do with teal, not a subset as it is now.
I just want to reiterate that this may change fundamentally the way that aid is delivered to survivors of disasters. The current system is old and inefficient and is crying out for change. Importantly, the two pilots are with both FEMA and the Red Cross. The potential here is big

#Ethereum promised 2.0 upgrade for years.
#Algorand has upgraded many times- will soon upgrade to 46,000 TPS & 2 second tx times. (could handle VISA & MC)
