@Raveline > Faut-il renoncer à convaincre autrui ?
Manifestement non 😇
Mais il faut savoir apprécier, à défaut de convaincre, d'avoir exploré des tropismes inconnus.
@dr_c0d3@TechnoEmpress@ncraftsConf@lucasdicioccio We did plan a haskell meetup on May 18th with @TechnoEmpress as a speaker. Fortunately, I realized it was a holiday before started looking for hosts.
I *still* want to host that talk some day, maybe in June.
@tpierrain Friend, not everything is about you.
The initial message you made was general, and I tried to show why it's not fair to make devs responsible for the situation when, of the roles you quoted, they usually have the least power.
@tpierrain For a twitter-esque example of such bubble bursting, you can look at dhh and the turn management took at basecamp when he no longer felt comfortable with the experiment.
@tpierrain Sure, but you can't expect people whose formative experience happened in such a system to behave as if your exception is the norm. Deconstructing that takes time.
Also remember that this kind experiment lives in a bubble, and that bubble only lives as long as it suits management.
@tpierrain So with a structure built to expose dev activity to managers and architects and not the other way around, how could a dev know the daily routine of their higher ups? Where disagreement usually means devs are wrong, is it fair to ask the weak to show empathy for the strong?
@tpierrain Devs report to managers, not the other way around. It is not common for managers to report to devs in a daily. Neither do architects. In most orgs, neither of these roles serve devs, they oversee. And that means the power structure favors managers and architects.
@malk_zameth I would say that's a googleism, they pushed the same angle for protobuf.
I assume that with a full information system built around that assumption, there are benefits.
