On World Malaria Day, let's spotlight Intermittent Preventive Treatment in schoolchildren (IPTsc). By providing preventive antimalarial treatment to school-aged children in endemic areas, IPTsc reduces infections, boosts school attendance, and saves lives. #EndMalaria
@hiitshans Brother, that’s a heavy question. If I knew every high and every low I’d probably still say YES. Why? Because even the rough stuff, the regrets, they make you who you are. The good moments...Knowing it all wouldn’t scare me off; it’d just make me want to prove I could handle it.
On World TB Day, we highlight the urgent need to tackle TB-malaria co-infection, which complicates diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. Key questions remain: Does malaria trigger TB reactivation? How do these infections influence each other’s severity?

Girls often bear the hidden burden of malaria, missing school to care for sick siblings.
An unfair responsibility that impacts their education and future opportunities!

New study suggests that malaria infections might have protected Africans from COVID-19 deaths. Very interesting indeed!

This study by @YawBediako_ and team explored the link between prior malaria exposure and COVID-19 severity in Ghana. They found that individuals with previous malaria exposure had altered immune responses to SARS-CoV-2, potentially explaining lower COVID-19 mortality rates in malaria-endemic regions. Specifically, asymptomatic COVID-19 patients showed evidence of a dampened immune response, while symptomatic patients had stronger malaria-specific T cell responses. Yaw and team conclude that that exposure to Plasmodium falciparum malaria may contribute to reduced severity of COVID19 infections among people living in malaria-endemic regions

Scientists confirm new TB test for high-risk groups
🌍 Exciting news in global health! 🧪 Scientists @Ifakarahealth and @SwissTPH have confirmed a new test that improves extrapulmonary TB diagnosis in high-risk groups like PWH. The non-invasive and effective test offers easier TB detection and could improve treatment outcomes in high-risk populations. 🌈

Malaria is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in West Africa. In 2023, CRS, along with our partners, prevented over 3,000,000 cases of #malaria in children under five. Here’s a snapshot of how we accomplished that in #Guinea.
