@ecf2times_@EugeneREQUIEM5 He doesn't have to make them "appear" equal. They ARE equal. Two separate instances of a player committing a foul in the process of scrambling for a loose ball.
@NeutrinoWay@cckent22 Nope. I disagree that she's the dirtiest player (Sophie, Marina, DiJonai, and CC herself are all in that conversation), but criticism is fine. Unfortunately, most of the discourse directed AT's way has not been "honest criticism."
@CCMVPLoading "Fist to the throat" is such a disingenuous framing, and you know it... unless you haven't actually watched the play. It was a standard flagrant. Yes they missed it live (not unusual), but y'all are acting like AT should be banned from the league. It wasn't a noteworthy foul.
@John_KernanIND@CaitlinClark22 No one wants to "do her harm". It's a physical game. She's not the only one who ever gets fouled hard, nor is she the only one who ever gets fouled without a call. Also the league was already in the process of expansion when she got there, far from "dying".
@CarterAustin803@DBGyt_ I appreciate that. Folks defending AT aren't saying they're happy CC got hurt. We are just frustrated by a certain subset of CC fans (and "fans") gleefully turning a normal foul into an excuse to spread bigotry.
@CarterAustin803@DBGyt_ The thing is that she does. Sometimes refs miss calls. She isn't the only one who ever gets fouled without a call. She isn't the only one who ever gets called for a weak foul. She isn't the only one who gets fouled hard. It's a victim complex that is exhausting for non-CC fans.
@CarterAustin803@DBGyt_ The original post is complaining about AT's teammates supporting her publicly during a time when she is being bombarded by hate speech. You didn't say anything hateful, but we are only even discussing this two days after the fact because many CC fans want to call it a hate crime.
@CarterAustin803@DBGyt_ Then do that. Nobody is preventing her from playing basketball. You don't need to turn a missed foul call into a targeted hate campaign. Sometimes fouls get missed. Y'all are asking for her to get special treatment.
@DBGyt_ Uh, they're acting that way because there's an entire army of people who don't even watch the WNBA spewing endless racism, homophobia, and somehow transphobia at her over a foul that wouldn't otherwise be noteworthy.
@ImJustQuentin FOH "purposely". It was a clean steal. Unfortunate that Phee got hurt, but injuries happen in sports. It's a physical league and AT is a physical player.
@laserbeaum@EugeneREQUIEM5@PhoenixMercury WTF are you talking about? It's literally the exact same thing. Someone making a physical play in an attempt to grab a loose ball, and committing a foul in the process.
@MountaineersMan@ttwittweettwatt Other fanbases have called AT "dirty" for sure, but CC fans are the only ones constantly throwing racist dog whistles and calls for harsh legal punishment.
If the roles were reversed nobody would be talking about it, not even actual WNBA fans. Mercury fans would've been upset for a few minutes because a foul wasn't called, and then would've moved on because it was a normal basketball play and fouls get missed all the time.
