Excited to share that the bulk of my graduate work is now online as a pre-print: Obesogenic diet alters decidual differentiation and cell-cell communication in the mouse uterus 🧵

Gina gave a talk, and Katie and Victoria presented posters to share their work @_HealthyStarts Research Day 2025! Big congratulations to all three of them as they all won travel awards! 🎉
🚨 NEW PRE-PRINT ALERT 🚨
Our latest study comparing male and female human extravillous lineage-associated trophoblasts across the first trimester is now online! Find the 🧵by @MattShannon_Sci below ⬇️
Using bulk & available single-cell data we compared EVT across the first trimester. Our results suggest that autosomal expression patterns in male & female EVT-lineage cells diverge after week 10 of pregnancy, likely following the erosion of spiral artery plugs.

The placenta is essential to a fetus’ development, but little is known about how it develops and interacts with the uterus. Dr. Alexander Beristain is using an artificial model of the placenta to better understand its role in pregnancy. More: https://t.co/LzUtZVpRIM
