@KimGulledge Another option is to assign a fractional value (like cost) to each item - even if they don't seem fractional. For example, a collection of buttons and you ask "if each button costs 1/10 of a dollar, how much would this collection cost?"
@KimGulledge Hi @KimGulledge! I love pattern blocks because you can say "what if the yellow hexagon is worth 1, what is the value of your collection?" (remove the squares and skinny rhombi). You can obviously choose different shapes to be worth 1, which will change the value as well.
