Bernie has got this partially right. When AI replaces human labor, the public needs to own it, both to survive and to ensure proper alignment. Where's he wrong is on the numbers. Public ownership should phase in as AI becomes a larger share of GDP and displaces cognitive labor.
I will soon be introducing a bill to give the public a 50% ownership stake in the largest AI companies in America.
This would guarantee that the trillions created by AI are used to improve the lives of all of us โ and block oligarch decisions that harm the American people.
@garrytan You're on the wrong side of this one, Gary. Better to argue over the amount rather than the principle. Public ownership of automated cognition is the only answer.
@Scott_Wiener I mean, the shoe could be on the other foot. Could a gay employee put a pride pin on their employer's uniform with an embroidered bible citation? Would you support firing them for that?
@poiu477@MatNuclear Agree. Let's judge Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah by modern standards. Should we look at their human rights records? Women's rights? Immigrant's rights? Multi-cultural tolerance? Democratic standards? Economy? Let's visit each, organize a protest, see who gets arrested.
@sahmetkiz Iran has violated every agreement it has signed. It is violation of the NPT. It enriched uranium in violation of JCPOA. Its proxy, Hamas, is in violation of the ceasefire in Gaza. Its proxy, Hezbollah, is in violation of the 2006 ceasefire in Lebanon.
@Scott_Wiener Hopefully the Watson case does away with counting ballots after Election Day. (At least in Federal elections. California is so insane that they may keep it for contests that are strictly state-scoped).

Why do we think Elon Musk can run any company well after DOGE? He was wrong on the facts; his hypothesis was wrong; his execution was incompetent and sometimes criminal; and his collaborators were poorly selected.
