As Solicitor General I deal with dozens of cases under the unduly lenient sentence scheme each week. It is a vital part of our justice system and gives victims a voice.
I am extremely pleased that the Attorney General has referred this case, clearly the right decision.
London faces a choice: the politics of protest, or the politics of progress.
We’re building homes. Others are blocking them.
My op-ed in @theLDNstandard on why Lewisham, @mayorofLondon and our Labour government are up for the fight.

As part of our commitment to visit every care home in Lewisham, to ensure residents feel safe and well cared for, I was pleased to visit Peartree Care Home in Sydenham, meet some residents and open their new hair salon.
✅ Yesterday evening Mayor and Cabinet voted to withdraw permitted development rights for Houses in Multiple Occupation across the borough.
🏡 This means any future HMO conversions will have to obtain planning permission, as well as being subject to our HMO licensing scheme.
Great news from our Right to Buy-back programme – 117 homes brought back into @LewishamCouncil ownership for families on our housing waiting list.
Thanks to @MayorofLondon for his support on this important programme.
I'm delighted to be selected as the Labour Parliamentary candidate for Broxtowe.

Forest Hill Labour out today talking to residents on Sydenham Park & Sydenham Park Rd, Albion Villas & Redberry Grove. Thanks to everyone who opened the door and had a chat (we had a lovely time, despite the serious looks on this pic!) 🌹
Broxtowe is getting a raw deal under the Tories but we can only change that by uniting to beat Darren Henry.
I’m a lifelong trade unionist who puts our shared values into practice every day, standing to be the next Labour MP for Broxtowe.
