Despite Danforth naming Hawley, it sure seems like Mr. big name, a long friend to big businesses connected to the regional 'partners in pollution' (responsible for poisoning STL), is actually taking aim at community change-making & accountability led by local moms. Super weird
@repckelly@MO_Independent@RudiKellerMI@Allie_Kite Wait what!? I mean- Danforth was AG when the rad waste was illegally dumped at West Lake! He was Sen in 1990 when RECA was first introduced + passed. He had more opportunity than any of the people you name dropped to “get it done” didn’t he? Also- Blunt + McCaskill did try fyi
I’ll do more than put up signs.
As Attorney General, I will hold the feds accountable for poisoning families with nuclear waste and ensure there is a real cleanup.
This guy sues Biden for everything, but when it comes to protecting our families, he’s writing letters.
@repckelly@MO_Independent@RudiKellerMI@Allie_Kite What exactly would Danforth have done differently?
Who would Danforth have spoken to?
What would his letters to public officials have said?
Why would Danforth have a better relationship w House than SOTH has w/ his own party?
Aft 20 yr silence, now Danforth wants to 'help'?
@Dianlow@MO_Independent@RudiKellerMI@Allie_Kite While few could identify cancer clusters, fed govt, legislators, public officials (state &federal) knew STL airport was Site 2 for radioactive waste. In 1948 the gov't knew radioactive waste was in Coldwater Creek. If Danforth wanted to act, he would have. He flew by NoCo to DC
@jaynordlinger@PrufrocksBurner's points in article are as dull as a butter knife turned screwdriver, flaws include:
1 RECA expansion is founded in science, expanded communities meet RECA
2 Leg timeline is flawed
3 Communities still exposed, ie Jana school
4 Feds contracted nucs

Yes! How dare ANYONE try and dangle help for one community poisoned by their government with radioactive waste from the Manhattan Project in exchange for leaving the others to just die! How un American!! Then turn around and mock our sick children with this article!
.@SpeakerJohnson is to blame for #RECA renewal and expansion being stalled in Congress, @DawnChapmanSTL & @SenHawleyPress say at news conference in DC w/tribal advocates from New Mexico, others impacted by radiation exposure

@SpeakerJohnson can allow RECA to the floor for a vote, now. Reps across the US believe people exposed to the US own radioactive waste justly deserve access to care/resources. Why does Johnson cause new harm to communities with an unnecessary legislative expiration and delay?
