#Currumbin Olympian Bernadette Wallace is heading to the Tokyo Games, competing in a new discipline for women.
She'll become a trailblazer in the canoe sprint event- and she's also kicked melanoma to the curb!

Oftentimes I read athletes and coaches say things like the game is 10% physical and 90% mental.
When Iโm asked about it, I always say that sport performance is 100% physical and 100% mental.
More than once, people replied:
You mean 50/50?
To which I respond: I mean 100/100.
Earlier today, @BerniWallace spent some time talking to students at Birdwood Primary School as part of the Olympics Unleashed program. Delivered in a virtual format, the SASI Canoe Sprint athlete spoke about how she sets goals & overcomes challenges as an elite athlete.

@7NewsAdelaide@Olympics @LucasRinaldo7 @7olympics Thanks for sharing our journey, appreciated! Especially the week that should have been #Tokyo2020 ๐ช๐ฏโโ๏ธ๐ฆ๐บ
It should have been day 12 of the Tokyo @Olympics and canoeists @BerniWallace and South Aussie Josephine Bulmer were scheduled to be competing this weekend. But the 12-month delay is not the only hurdle the pair has overcome on their Olympic journey. @lucasrinaldo7 @7olympics
After missing out on #Rio2016 due to a cancer scare, @BerniWallace is set to make Olympic history on debut at @Tokyo2020, as one of the first-ever women to compete in Canoe Sprint at the Olympic Games!
