Published impact of low grain protein on wheat seedling root/shoot vigour. Protein dilution with higher yields (and high urea prices) may conspire to drive 2022 grain proteins down. Retain high protein grain from best paddocks for 2023 sowing

@jalbirri To be fair to them sometimes when the rain does fall there can actually be alot of variation from within a very close proximity which would make it hard ?
@agronomy_sharon @AgChatOZ Sharon a few years ago a client did a significant canola area with the plane successfully. Sandplain soil type and wheat stubble. Had wind prior to germinating rainfall event which may have helped with some soil movement. Given the excellent moisture you have it is a sound idea
@cameronjohno@QuentenKnight@FMCANZ@Stainesy11 G’day Cameron, Extremely shallow, dry seeded, with a canola boot on a DBS has been fine for us. If Stubble present - very little bleaching. Nil stubble pdks slightly more bleaching - but not even close to causing concern for the farmer.
Looking at a limited release of 2-3 12m KHart bars fully kitted up with #ipaddockalphadisc on 190mm spacings for season 2022. EOI welcome, with orders taken on a first in best dressed basis. Pricing will be based on interest - & timing - but will be way below alternative machines
@Bossy_68 Yep exactly Pete. Some people not aware that it Takes time time to bulk up the parents to produce the hybrid seed that gets grown in the farmers pdk. Would be nice to see the points made in that article verified by someone knowledgeable so you lot have confidence to go harder ?
I don’t know who Chris McLennan is, but this is a good article. Hope seed suppliers are taking note of market signals. #slowlycatchinguponthelocalpress

@BenHobley@PBoutsalis Yep agreed. Kill a lot more weeds when the canola germinates in late May / early June. However it makes you more profit germinating in April.
These results are further confirmation of why we have been a strong advocate of reco’ing a Roundup Clethodim mix. RR Canola is the only crop type we can do this in WA. Straight cleth in TT or straight Roundup in RR will only speed up the selection process correct @PBoutsalis ?
Combination of Clethodim + Roundup Ready Performance Liquid on ryegrass resistant to Dims, Glyphosate or both. Photo is of 12 populations. Each pot is a single population. The location of each pot in each tray is the same population.
Ryegrass from WA, SA, Vic and NSW chosen.
@BenHobley@PBoutsalis 1 shot of 330ml of 360gai. For old school RR we would do it with 2nd Roundup spray at 6lf. For Truflex it has become more tricky. Most of the time cleth will go in with 1st Roundup cos it’s rare for the 2nd Roundup to be on by 6lf. Never do cleth after 6lf in any canola crop.
