Rest in peace to the woman behind Kiki’s Delivery Service 🕊️
Akiko Hayashi, the legendary Japanese picture-book author and illustrator, passed away at the age of 81. While anime fans may know Kiki’s Delivery Service through Studio Ghibli’s 1989 film, Hayashi was the artist behind the illustrations of the novel, giving readers one of the earliest printed images of Kiki and Jiji before the story became an anime classic.
Hayashi was best known for her warm, delicate portrayals of childhood in books like Miki’s First Errand, Good Evening Mr. Moon, Aki and the Fox, and There’s a Hippo in My Bath! Her work captured small emotions with rare tenderness: a child’s nervous first step, a quiet moment under the moon, or the courage hidden in everyday life.
Her illustrations helped shape the visual memory of generations, from picture-book readers in Japan and Korea to fans who later discovered Kiki’s story through Ghibli.
Rest in peace, Akiko Hayashi 🌙
it’s been one year since the zionists murdered my cousin at an “aid distribution site”. they starved my family, lured them in out of desperation and shot at them from tanks.
may we all live to witness the dismantling of the zionist colony.
There is no child in the world that should ever know anything but love and care from their communities, their families, this WORLD! There is no child that EVER deserves this. No human being regardless of age. We were all babies once. We all deserve love and care.
Never this.
Oh that’s fine.
Guess we’ll all just burn up and die because there is IN FACT a reason they were labeled “greenhouse gases”.
Prepare to suffocate, burn or freeze to death and anyone living somewhere coastal GOOD LUCK as the oceans swallow your land whole!
Thanks Trump!
i think people from the US officially lost their right to being smug and mock chinas authoritarian surveillance state the past decade or so
you have AI flock cameras, palantir, massive surveillance state, being slave to billionaires, cant even touch a pool of water
The U.S. is a failed country. The amount of suffering we cause our own citizens and the terror we enforce abroad. There is no world where a mother should be forcibly separated from the child she BIRTHED because of lack of “money” which is a human construct we gave value to.
Some letters are never meant to be sent.
In 1946, Richard Feynman wrote a love letter to his wife, two years after her death --He never sent it.
Last line: “I love my wife. My wife is dead.”
