I'm very averse to anti-Florida rhetoric. There is a rich queer and multi-racial working class history here. Some of y'all give pretentious when you say you'd rather die than live in this state
@maimbaitprncess there's lots of working class, trans and queer people who live in Florida and can't leave. I'm saying Florida is worth fighting for because of those people, and shit talking and dismissing the entire state won't help with that
Women don't enter trades like men do because the working conditions almost guarantee a lifetime of sexual harassment and sexism, not because they're too weak to learn carpentry.
A Democratic Socialist and AntiZionist won the Election Day vote in Miami Dade county. Finished with 44% in Miami-Dade and 40% in Broward.
Never giving up on home. A better South Florida is possible.
What a ride, what a campaign! As the results came in last night, I just felt so grateful at the fight we put up. By the end of it, our campaign did best in MIAMI-DADE (44%), and handily won Black, Latino, and working class voters.
Thank you @OliverALarkin, itโs been a privilege!
The Hong and Larkin losses are painful but illustrate a fundamental difference between DSA and the two capitalist parties. Our power is measured by the number of working people who join the fight for a better world. Win or lose, DSA lays the foundation for future victories.
DSA is alive everywhere. Today, thousands upon thousands of South Floridians voted for a proud, open Democratic Socialist.
This is a frontier; that which is the ceiling today will be the floor tomorrow.
DSA is in Florida and is here to stay!
