📣MY BOOK OUT!📣
Does language rely solely on rules, or is there more to it?🔎 Explore the interplay between
compositionality and analogy from a constructionist view in my book, now in Elements on #ConstructionGrammar! You can freely download it ⤵️ people I have to thank: 1/4
It's my first day as an Associate Professor at @Sorbonne_Nvelle, and my first book, based on my doctoral research, is officially out! Published by Mouton de Gruyter in the Language Contact and Bilingualism series. Check it out here: https://t.co/4gg04mAn6h

@lousylinguist Once upon a time, a prince climbed up on a poor girl's hair, punning all the way upon 'hair' and 'heir'. "You won't be reapin' any fruit if you're rippin' it," repunned Rapunzel.
So what now? CxG is falsifiable and there might be meaningless/non-symbolic aspects of language - but that doesn't mean that an incredible amount of language isn't symbolic - so much more in fact than what was assumed before the rise of CxG - and this is a worthwhile enterprise
@complingy Only because I've been mesmerized by the tree and have been staring at it for a long time, is it that "my" should also be an Npro, just like "I", and "will" a Vaux, just like "is", "'ve" and "been"? But these inconsistencies are indeed really very minor.

@linguistMasoud Very nice. And more challenging to explain than it may seem. It's not about epistemic vs. non-epistemic. It's about wide-scope non-epistemic (what's intended) vs. narrow-scope non-epistemic (what it could be taken to mean).
@DrDesLemmes@AlexisPichard__ Well, I'm also grateful to you and/or the publisher for the free copy! The last chapter on information structure already comes in very handy right now. 😉
I received in my mailbox this delightfully written grammar by @AlexisPichard__ & @DrDesLemmes. Concise yet complete, it keeps things simple without sacrificing linguistic sophistication.
