@R_CathPR Literally most of the New Testament is written to combat heresy within the lifetimes of people who saw Jesus on earth.
It’s not some bizarre Protestant belief that the church needs to vigilantly guard against heresy.
@reddit_lies I feel like leftists maybe gravitate toward poverty-generating political systems so that they can be “forced” to carry out their darkest immoral desires, and thus be economically absolved of moral culpability.
@elonluver911@Keidt89@CommunistSpong2@bilbosfootcomb@KevinRenacido25 Nobody present could legally continue with the execution. They were actively violating the law. Jesus expertly defused the situation by unexpectedly telling them to begin the stoning, but while simultaneously pointing out that none of them was qualified to cast the first stone.
@elonluver911@CommunistSpong2@bilbosfootcomb@KevinRenacido25 By reading the passage this way, you assert that Jesus violated the law, nullifying his entire mission of perfectly fulfilling the law on our behalf.
You de-Christ Jesus by making him abridge the law here.
@Diane_IQ29@tomasheard@bilbosfootcomb@KevinRenacido25 Jesus perfectly fulfilled the requirements of the law of Moses.
Any theology that denies this isn’t Christian.
If Jesus refuted, altered, or abridged the law in any way, his entire mission failed.
Leftists desperately want Jesus to waive the law in John 8. He didn’t.
@CommunistSpong2@bilbosfootcomb@KevinRenacido25 “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”
He tells them to start stoning her. But it could only go forward if the first stone was cast by one innocent of the crime, AND a direct witness to it.
The fact that no accuser steps up is because they were all breaking the law.
@tomasheard@bilbosfootcomb@KevinRenacido25 From a human perspective, Jesus didn’t witness the crime, and none of the alleged witnesses remained. He literally can’t legally condemn her. To do so would be to break the law.
This entire passage is about upholding the law righteously.
@MasteroftheTDS Usually the legacy media will call you a racist/sexist/etc for saying Disney-era Star Wars is bad.
Seems odd that they’re admitting it now. Is the movie just THAT terrible? Or is it secretly/accidentally right-wing somehow?
@flamewave7@AtheistTakes It’s hilarious watching leftists — notorious for aggressive censorship in the name of stopping offensive humor — try to hide behind humor, now that they’re “joking” about murdering Americans for their political views.
@RadioFreeTom@JonLemire Lol. Imagine being such a blatant propagandist.
Did you really dream of being a regime lapdog as a kid? Or do you regret how things ended up?
@bilbosfootcomb@KevinRenacido25 (Jesus told them to stone her. He just told them to do it legally. They were breaking the law, and the legal procedure couldn’t go forward, so they left)
@lBassRiff@AtheistTakes My case is that you provided a completely irrelevant statistic, demonstrating that you don’t understand what Christians mean when they argue from morality.
