For those who don’t know me, my name is April Huggett. I am from #Canada and a junior sergeant in the 93rd Brigade’s Alcatraz Battalion in #Ukraine. I am currently walking from Kyiv to Kramatorsk to raise awareness and funds for my soldiers.

Today, I officially crossed the 100 kilometer mark.

Now I am looking forward to some much-needed rest while I wait out the worst of the sun and the possible rain. I found shelter beneath a bridge, and while it may have its ups and downs, right now I am simply grateful to have found a safe place to stop.

I am feeling optimistic, proud, and ready to keep moving.

I was told not to say that I am tired. Not to show weakness.

But courage and strength are not about never being afraid. They are not about never being exhausted. They are about continuing anyway.

It is 32 degrees. I am walking from Kyiv to Kramatorsk without an entourage, without a team around me, alone in a country at war.

But I have more motivation than most people will ever understand.

Hundreds and hundreds of men are depending on me. Men waiting for me to come back. Men still in positions, still under fire, still holding the line while I walk to raise money to keep them alive.

In the few days I have been gone, we have already lost multiple positions.

We need to rebuild. We need equipment. We need protection. We need the ability to keep fighting and keep our soldiers alive.

This is not just a walk. This is me doing everything I can with the voice I have, for the men who cannot leave, cannot rest, and cannot ask the world for help themselves.

We received an update from the hospital that Choice's condition is not improving and quite dull today. She still doesn't eat so neither poop nor urine is visible. She is already under iv fluids to help her with hydration and on her 3rd day of fip injectables.

Along this journey, I have realized something about Ukrainians.

Everything they touch turns back into life.

The land they work. The homes they rebuild. The streets they clean after attacks. The food they share when they barely have enough for themselves. The way they keep going, not just surviving, but living.

So much of what I ask for to help keep the Ukrainian men around me alive are just things. Equipment. Power stations. Drones. Tablets. Radios. Gear.

But behind every piece of equipment is a person.

A son. A father. A brother. A friend. A man who deserves to come home.

Ukrainians have taught me how to live in the moment. To notice every color, every smell, every view, every conversation, every act of kindness. Not because the future feels hopeless, but because tomorrow is never promised.

They taught me how to live.

Now I am asking you to help me keep them alive.
