The dream finally came true !

On March 21st 1999, in the middle of the Egyptian desert, @Breitling Orbiter 3 landed successfully!

Today, I still feel like in the video below, enthusiastically shaking and hugging my friend Brian.

Almost everybody had put their bets on our competitors, and 25 years later, I still can't believe we were the winners !

More than 450 stakeholders, following @solarimpulse, have joined forces to send this message to 🇪🇺 Heads of States:

Europe should grasp the opportunity of a new mandate to implement a Clean Industrial Deal, in line with the #EUGreenDeal objectives, to increase the competitiveness of the EU thanks to more clean techs and renewable energies that would make our industries more efficient, profitable and indépendant.

🇪🇺 This morning, we sent a message to EU Leaders.

The #EUGreenDeal has set the EU on a path to sustainable growth. Complemented with an Industrial Deal, the Green Deal should remain a priority to ensure both clean AND profitable solutions are promoted.

Along with more than 400 signatories including @amazon, @EDFofficiel, @Huawei, @IKEA, @Signify, @Uber, @ENGIEgroup and @SchneiderElec, we call on EU leaders to use the next 5 years of their mandate to confirm the Green Deal as Europe's growth engine.

We have 5 years to take our fate into our own hands and advance towards a competitive, secure and democratic Europe.

🇪🇺 Despite statements ahead of the #EU2024 elections, it would not be in the interests of the most right-wing parties to oppose the Green Deal.

Engaging in a profound modernisation of Europe through the Green Deal, deploying all the solutions that exist to make our processes less wasteful and more efficient, equals value and job creation, energy sovereignty and better quality of life. As such, an agenda that can and should appeal to all trends of the political spectrum.

Many have campaigned against a sacrificial and expensive climate action, so let’s harness and communicate on the benefits of the (eco)logical transition so that it can federate rather than divide.

For me, the Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders was not only the author of the fabulous picture of the Earth Rise above the Moon surface, he was also my childhood hero since he visited my father’s submarine 55 years ago in Florida.

He’s one of the explorers who inspired me the most, explaining me his passion for going into the unknown. So thankful to him.

Beyond the signature ceremony, I visited in Morocco the impressive UM6P Campus in Benguerir, met students and researchers, and witnessed the incredible youthful energy dedicated to finding solutions to the challenge our world faces. We look forward to joining forces !
