As the 114th International Labour Conference begins in Geneva, Employers from around the world are coming together to bring a coordinated and practical business voice to the negotiating table.

This year’s agenda includes discussions on decent work in the platform economy, gender equality at work, social dialogue and tripartism, and the application of international labour standards.

With representatives from employers’ organisations across the ILO’s 187 Member States, the Employers’ Group plays an essential role in ensuring that global labour policy discussions remain grounded in business realities, sustainable enterprise, job creation and workable solutions.

The High-Level segment opened with a presentation by Norman Loayza on the @WorldBankGroup’s B-READY initiative, highlighting the importance of transparent and predictable policies to support resilient business environments.

Business leaders from around the world shared insights on how companies can adapt to growing economic volatility and strengthen resilience in an increasingly complex global landscape.

IOE members also expressed strong support for the work of the Secretariat, recognising its role in ensuring that the voice of business continues to be represented in key international policy discussions.

The IOE takes note of the ICJ Advisory Opinion's “conclusion that the right to strike is protected by Convention No. 87 does not entail any determination on the precise content, scope or conditions for the exercise of that right.”

🌍 The second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) opened yesterday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, bringing together governments, international organisations, civil society and business to review progress on the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).

🤝 The IOE business delegation began the week with 20 representatives from employers’ and partner organisations across Aruba, Canada, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mexico, Serbia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

🎙️ At the opening Multi-stakeholder Hearing, Tomás Jaramillo Torres, from @ANDI_Colombia, represented employers in the discussion on labour rights and protections, reinforcing a clear message: business must be an active partner in shaping migration policies that work in practice.

📌Employers were also represented at a side event on social justice, with Jorge Vera from @Coparmex, and on wage and social protection by Abdulghani Al Sayegh from Federation of Saudi Chambers, while the delegation briefing at the USCIB office helped align priorities for the week ahead.

➡️ In the coming days, the delegation will continue engaging on legal pathways and responsible recruitment, skills development and labour mobility, and evidence-based migration policies.

Migration policy delivers when business is part of how it is shaped.
