A great session with Parliamentarians from all over the world under the auspices of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (@IPUparliament), co-chaired by @berndlange of Germany and Hon. Manzoor Nadir of Guyana, fielding questions on @wto reform, the present trade conjunction and development issues. Thanks to IPU Members for the strong support for WTO and the desire for further interaction with Members to share your views on reform. As you pointed out, you are representatives of the people and it’s important that your views are heard. Thanks also to IPU SG, H.E. Anda Filip, for organizing the session.

On the occasion of their participation at the #WTOPublicForum, an engaging discussion with Mary Kate Carter, International Trade Policy Advisor, Senate Finance Majority Staff, and Joe Johnson, Senior International Trade Counsel, Senate Finance Minority Staff, of the US Senate. Discussions were mainly focused on the status and future progress of @wto reform. We appreciate the support from Congress and value the US‘s active participation in WTO reforms. Was pleased to give a keynote kick-off to a packed session on critical minerals. With panelists H.E. Julien Paluku Kahongya, Minister of Foreign Trade of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Anabel Gonzalez, VP of @the_IDB, Peter Wooders, Founder of the Geneva Platform for Resilient Value Chains, and excellent moderation by Luz Maria de la Mora, Director of @UNCTAD‘s Division on International Trade and Commodities. The WTO‘s Young Trade Leaders Programme is in its third iteration. Congratulations to the seven successful YTLs out of more than 1300 applicants. Pleasure to meet YTLs Piyush Acharya (United States), Karen Bailon (Ecuador), Noppon Chhim (Cambodia), Nor Fekri (Morocco), Eve Ang Yee Leng (Singapore), Samuel Petráš (Slovakia), and Akshat Sharma (India) and listen to their views on issues ranging from the pros/cons of AI and the need for inclusion, to communicating @wto better with improved outreach to communities on the ground, to the impact of global trade turbulence on supply chains in export-led economies.
