DID SENATOR CHIZ ESCUDERO VIOLATE THE LAW BY ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM A CONTRACTOR?

Lawrence R. Lubiano — the president of Centerways Construction and Development Inc. — was Escudero’s top donor in the 2022 elections, dropping P30 million into the senator’s campaign funds, based on his official Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE).

Sariling SOCE ni Chiz yan. Siya ang gumawa at nag fill out ng SOCE niya.

Walang pumilit kay Chiz na isulat ang pangalan ni Lawrence Lubiano at i-declare na nag donate si Lubiano ng P30 Million pesos sa kanya.

Ngayon, inaamin ulet ni Chiz na kumuha nga siya ng donations mula kay Lubiano pero sabi niya wala daw masama dito.

Basahin natin ang Section 95 (c) ng Omnibus Election Code:

“SECTION 95. Prohibited contributions. – No contribution for purposes of partisan political activity shall be made directly or indirectly by any of the following:

(c) Natural and juridical persons who hold contracts or sub-contracts to supply the government or any of its divisions, subdivisions or instrumentalities, with goods or services or to perform construction or other works;”

Klaro di ba?

Kung contractor ka, bawal na mag donate sa pulitiko. Kung pulitiko ka, bawal ka tumanggap sa contractor.

Pano ba yan Chiz, sabi nga nila ang isda nahuhuli sa sariling bibig.
