@JezCorden This is sort of where not being the market leader plays to xbox's advantage. They can make a lot of drastic changes and not get much push back, maybe even pick up new users. When you have been so high, it becomes increasingly difficult to go higher and a lot easier to go down
@JezCorden Sony will definitely offer an external disc drive for PS6. Sony's entire business model relies on a large install base to buy in immediately. Not having an optional disc drive is like saying your PS4 library isn't compatible, & PS has already had issues moving people from 4 to 5
@JezCorden@angryoatmeal28@MCFixer Ya I would imagine they start rolling out this feature out this November when they fully announce Helix at the 25th anniversary. But this pretty much guarantees an always online requirement or else how would it remove your license when someone else uses your disc?
@MCFixer@JezCorden Doing discs means you will need to continue including one with future consoles. I think both companies want to get everyone off discs ASAP. It's not as if people with flock to Xbox for one final gen of discs. Remember the end of next gen will be 2034
@IGN Why aren't you mentioning that Xbox is doing the same? At least PlayStation is warning us.. Xbox will probably wait till launch

@mnswingtrader@SixersOctavian Ya, this would mean you would need an always online connection, or else you could just install every game you own, get the digital license, go offline and sell all your games and continue playing them forever offline
@beef198819@MentalHealthVT@SixersOctavian But you do understand that this means Xbox will be always online, or else how would it remove your license if someone else uses that disc.
@beef198819@MentalHealthVT@SixersOctavian Jez already reported that Helix won't have a disc drive, this is something you would have to do with your Xbox one or seriesX.
@KelleyCarm15433@50PlusGamer1970@Yaboynosworc@kghejd76595@mrpyo1 You are trying to argue against facts, facts that you knew were coming and chose only to speak up after the fact? You've had two decades to show game companies that you want physical. You praised GP. What if PS7 is only a handheld & Sony has been selling you discs for all PS6?
@KelleyCarm15433@50PlusGamer1970@Yaboynosworc@kghejd76595@mrpyo1 A million is not a lot when you factor in that 1000's of games release every year, and Sony is selling ~300m units of software every year. Physical media takes up a lot of space, manufacturing has a huge environmental impact, shipping costs of massive diesel trucks polluting
@KelleyCarm15433@50PlusGamer1970@Yaboynosworc@kghejd76595@mrpyo1 I get it, you think they make billions every year, they can afford to eat that cost to keep a dozen people happy. If that is true why has a $4.5 trillion company like MS been laying off 1000's each year at Xbox. I enjoy video games, especially PS, so I will continue to support
@KelleyCarm15433@50PlusGamer1970@Yaboynosworc@kghejd76595@mrpyo1 This has been happening this entire generation millions of physical discs from 100's of publisher's. And to pay for this, games will need to increase in price, would you pay $500/game for physical even though it is just a license?
