The Bessemer City Council has extended the State of Emergency in Bessemer until Friday, May 15. All city buildings remain closed to the public until Monday, May 18. Persons entering a city building after May 18 will be required to wear a mask.

Northbound lanes of I59/20 at mile marker 113 are shut down due to an accident.
Use alternate routes such as 9th Avenue North.

Most major railroad crossings are open for your safe travel. This includes Highway 150, Eastern valley road at Sparks Gap road, 18th and 19th streets.

Railroad crossings remain closed at 15th St, Highway 150, 9th and 7th Streets. Anticipated reopening time is 7 pm.

To detour use Division St and 16th through 22nd Street crossings.
