Former Bessemer Police Officer Stephen Williams was killed in the line of duty tonight,6/2/2020. Williams was currently serving as a Sergeant with the Moody Police department. Please keep The Williams family,Moody Police Department and Bessemer Police Department in your prayers.
The Bessemer City Council has extended the State of Emergency in Bessemer until Friday, May 15. All city buildings remain closed to the public until Monday, May 18. Persons entering a city building after May 18 will be required to wear a mask.
Bessemer traffic advisory;
Northbound lanes of I59/20 at mile marker 113 are shut down due to an accident.
Use alternate routes such as 9th Avenue North.
The Bessemer Police Department is postponing the April session of the Citizens Academy until further notice.
