A question has stayed with me for a long time.

Why is it so easy to start gambling, but so incredibly difficult to stop?

The more I paid attention, the more I realized this wasn’t just about betting.

It was about people.

People who never planned to become addicted.

People who genuinely believed the next ticket would be the one that changed everything.

People who promised themselves, “Just one more.”

Until one day, it wasn’t just about them anymore.

It became the spouse wondering where the rent money went.

The parent trying to understand why their child had suddenly changed.

The children caught in the middle of problems they were too young to understand.

The friend who wanted to help but didn’t know where to begin.

Problem gambling rarely hurts just one person. The people who love you often carry the pain with you.

And that’s what stayed with me the most.

Not the bets.

Not the money.

The people.

Over the past several months, my team and I have spent countless hours building something we hope can genuinely make a difference.

Today, we’re finally ready to share it.

Because of how urgent this problem is, we decided not to wait until every feature we envisioned was ready.

Instead, we built and released the first piece of that vision.

We started BetControl because we believe no family should have to watch someone they love lose control without having tools that can help.
Watching the impact of problem gambling convinced me that prevention deserves as much attention as treatment.

We know one app won’t solve gambling addiction overnight.

But every journey starts somewhere.
