Last week the NCGA overrode Governor Cooper's veto of SB49, a "Parent Bill of Rights." It is the 3rd of a trio of bills aimed at LGBTQ youth. This bill requires teachers to notify parents if students wish to be called a different name or pronoun. 🧵
"The educator protects students from conditions within the educator’s control that circumvent learning or are detrimental to the health and safety of students."

This! I Recently took my mom to an appt at the ENT. She has a hearing loss and wears hearing aids. The nurse proceeded to try to take her medical history with her back turned to my mom the entire time. This from a staff who is supposed to help folks with hearing loss. 😠
@howie_hua I feel like I've learned more about math in the past couple weeks following @howie_hua than in my whole school career. And I love Howie's smile and demeanor. I would sit in his math class all day.
