Our need for worth is so powerful that whatever we base our identity and value on we essentially “deify.” We will look to it with all the passion and and intensity of worship and devotion, even if we are highly irreligious.
“If we do not pay attention to the little things that distract us, we will find ourselves in the midst of a big thing that will undo us.” —Billy Graham
@BethMooreLPM The pain in my knees and my back is so bad I have to walk with hiking poles when I walk for exercise. And the rest of my day is extremely limited. Pain changes a person BUT I guess I don’t want to get well because I don’t want surgery or downtime. I’ll think about what U said
When your emotions are high, remind yourself that God never changes. You can always trust Him more than your feelings. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”—or feelings. God is faithful and you can trust Him with every detail and moment of your day.
God is near. You are never alone, no matter how isolating this season feels.
God is your strength. He will sustain you, even when you feel like you can’t take another step.
God is your hope. His promises are still true, and His joy and peace are still yours to claim.
Being yourself is a continuous effort.
There is always another expectation placed upon you, another person pulling you toward their preferences, another nudge from society to act a certain way.
It's a daily battle to be yourself, not merely what the world wants you to be.
When you dig into Scripture, you find God’s promises there. Where you struggle the most can be the place you experience the deepest intimacy with God. Because, if you’ve got a problem, I guarantee that God’s got a promise!
Your yesterday is not a prophecy of your tomorrow. God is your hope and your future. “Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation.” Lam. 5:19
