People definitely critique me for being a single issue voter, but summer school is proof that class size matter. We NEED to fund our schools so teachers have the capacity to build relationships with families and students along with educating. Please do your research this fall ❤️
People think I am crazy when I say my favorite part of teaching is summer school. In summer school, I have TIME to build relationships with students AND their families. I can make phone calls, send texts for good and bad. My class sizes are usually around 20.
As teachers, we hear “a phone call goes a long way” as if we are using emails to take the easy way out. When I have 120 students, I only have time on my prep to keep my head above water. I would LOVE to have time to call home and have conversations of concern or excitement.
Day 2 of NSDA and the Eagan Speech Tournament—congrats to Ronan (4th Storytelling), Abbey (5th Honor Poetry) and our Very own NATIONAL QUALIFIER in Drama —Ashlyn!!! @tigerfarmington @rabaumann71 @BethBeckman192
The home tournament is always so stressful, but I could not be more proud of these amazing humans. Despite having minimal coach support the last week as we prepared for the tournament, they absolutely performed their best and completely blew us out of the water!
It was home tournament day today!!
It was also our first in person award ceremony since March of 2020!!
It is speech tradition that the home team does not participate in the team sweepstakes event. If we had, we would have taken 2nd in the small schools division! @tigerfarmington
I have been so lucky to have Matt in Ramp/Tiger Connections over the past 4 years. He is always ready to roll with my sarcasm and teach me the correct new lingo. Matt is going to go into the medical field and I know he is going to help the lives of so many people!!
Spring is always a mixed bag of emotions for me. I love celebrating the class, but part of me is always so sad to see them go. This year I had two amazing distinguished scholars I got to celebrate. Matt Barton and Devon McCarthy.
I have always appreciated Devon and his quiet leadership. Students are drawn to him. He is so compassionate and is truly someone I believe is going to have a huge impact on this world! Good luck at the U of M!! Go Gophers! (Sorry husband - he is a husker fan)
