Today I finished my 4th year as a principal and 20th year in education. So honored to serve this amazing Spanish Dual Language Community!! @HIES_Huskies#somosfamilia
Prioritize some time the rest of the week to #CheckOn… ⬇️
Make sure they are all well & okay- b/c we all go through things that are really heavy. We all struggle, which is not a sign of weakness but rather it’s a sign of being #HUMAN🙌🏽✨#BeKind#SisterSupeRollCall#HowAreYou❓
I was asked tonight, “What’s something that really lights you up inside right now?”
And my first thought was “Being around teachers.”
I love celebrating the great work teachers are doing.
Had a blast on scrimmaging with some of my @HIES_Huskies 5th grade students! They’re keeping me on my toes, for sure! I love that I can lead my amazing school community from a place of passion! #soccertuesdays#SomosFamilia

The Leadership Journey from Color-Blind to Color-Brave #RepresentationMatters
We don't "give" students a voice. They already have a voice - and thoughts, ideas, solutions, passions, etc.
We want to AMPLIFY their voice, ELEVATE their voice. We can help them find their own outlets and platforms to share if they choose.
Pass. Them. The. Mic.
Some students go an entire day at school without anyone saying their name.
Be the adult who speaks to each student by name.
Everyone loves to hear their name.
Tomorrow I get to have my first in-person staff meeting with all 50 teachers and staff for the first time since March 2020 and I am so excited 🎉. Can’t wait to see all these seats full of excited educators ready to welcome our students back full time for the 2021-22 school year!
Proud parent brag- this wee little Freshman made the varsity girls soccer team at the new Adrienne C. Nelson High School! Can’t wait to watch her out on the pitch! #gohawks ⚽️
There is no amount of “perfect” that can make us more worthy of love and belonging. Let’s not waste our energy chasing perfect. Let’s be more human.
That’s what our schools need anyway. People standing in their imperfect humanity while centering the humanity of others.
