@aliciaandrz I don’t know about jobs at research universities, but this is in no way true of teaching jobs. I went to state schools for every degree and wound up with a unionized, TT job my first year on the market in 2013. There were 15 jobs in my field that year.
@mysteriousrona@wonderartsy I keep free masks available outside my office door, and encourage students to wear them especially if they aren’t feeling well. I have a number of students who have worn them when sick, no doubt because I mask everyday so they know they won’t be alone.
@fangtasticbaby@vampgirlfren Same! I had someone ask what my secret to losing weight was, so I just looked at them and said “I’m depressed.” (Then they asked me why I am depressed…)
@salterfry I was a country kid, so we just got instructed to take the dog with us when we went in the woods 😅. No street lights, so we just had to be back before dark.
@plagueprose Yep! The sensory issues I can get from a day of glasses are no joke. Between the pressure points on my ears and nose and the need to have the lenses totally clean…it can be a nightmare
“Your body, my choice” is exactly what all of you have been saying and doing to children, the elderly, and the disabled, as you repeatedly force infect us with a virus that you’re pretending just disappeared.
@heymrsbond I love this. I have UNIVERSITY students color code paragraphs for research papers. Every source gets a color and so do their thoughts. It helps. As actual writers know, writing is hard. Why not make the elements and process more transparent?
@lyluancake We recently discovered that Judah Friedlander does Zoom stand-up Saturday nights! Pay what you want. He’s COVID-cautious, and the show is great. After, he hung around to talk to folks—almost everyone on was clearly CC. It was great!!
