@Shyna_Fung @AdrianSaplywyj YouTube is such a greta tool! I love using it when I am having a hard time reading about a subject that I am having a difficult time with
I personally wish we would have gone a little more in-depth on the types of social medias it felt like such a small section of the course but could have been really interesting
@marc_de_rose Honestly found this course really fast pace and I am not fast. I think trying to keep up with all the quizzes, midterms journals and lesson really difficult since they would overlap each other
While reflecting on this course there are a lot of aspects that I am grateful for such as now understanding twitter :P, being Abel to share and build a community with social media. I wonder how this class would look on other form of social media
#lesson12 Students who grew up in the technology age such as myslef I feel have a better understanding of technology and the power it can have. I also think that we have this understanding of the faults in technology and what we understand as being misinformation
Example Mulan got recreated this and this time they used and Asian cast as they always should have. The new Cruella used characters that were not all white. They also came out with new movies such as Moana, Coco, Raya, Soul, and Encanto. This is a good start to diversifying Disney
#lesson11 Disney has remained pretty consistent with limiting the races that they portray the biggest movies have been mostly white main characters or side characters. I do think is it important to mention how they have slightly evolved even though they have a long ways to go.
it has also given us the chance to understand that originally we feminism was from the perspective of the white western woman and now because of social media we can represent as much people and cultures as possible
#lesson10 social media gave people a voice, it gave people a chance to understand the lives and realities of people they may never come into contact with. It gave a chance for change to occur. With social media we have been able to understand that what feminism really means.
#lesson9 We don't have privacy unsocial media, even with the privacy settings the site itself can direct adds to you that they think you will like and they can share your information to other companies. Social media gives us an illusion of privacy but, it does not exist
@Shyna_Fung Well I have an opposing opinion but, I have to ask what age d you think it appropriate to take about racism and the underlying problems in Disney. I think it is possible to talk about all topics with children you must make it relevant to their lives. It should not be taboo.
I have a hard time deciding whether or not it is violating or not for teacher and schools to keep and eye on what students are researching when they are adult students. As a elementary school students I think just putting the child safety on the computer is all that you need.
When students get to high-school and beyond why check what the students are doing. I understand that there may be a task that they have to finish but, the student should have the restraint to do the work and not foo around. Finally we do not have tp shield high school students
