Hey @Trevornoah I’m a HS English teacher and I’m reading your book with my seniors. This was an answer to a question on an assignment and I’m not even mad about it. #hardagree
Forced birth in a country with:
—No universal healthcare
—No universal childcare
—No paid family & medical leave
—One of the highest rates of maternal mortality among rich nations
This isn't about "life." It's about control.
There is no such thing as being “pro-life” while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place.
It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.
Sorry, but this tragedy isn’t “unimaginable.” We saw ten people killed at a grocery store last week! We saw an elementary school shot up with 20 kids dead less than ten years ago. It’s very much imaginable now.
Schools scared to death.
The truth is, one education under desks,
Stooped low from bullets;
That plunge when we ask
Where our children
Shall live
& how
& if
So what if a 16 year old tried to adopt a baby? She can't, she's not mature or financially stable enough to adopt a baby. But if she's pregnant, she has to raise that baby. Tell me how this makes sense.

Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley need to smile more. And they’re so emotional! And their voices sound shrill, they seem hysterical. It must be that time of the month.
27 years of putting on a bulletproof vest to go to work as a law enforcement officer is not a "sudden interest" in combating violent crime. I reduced violent crime by 40% as Orlando's Chief of Police while Marco Rubio was home asleep in his bed.
JUST NOW: ""What kind of state are you building where you're essentially pushing kids back into the closet and saying we can't talk about you? ... [Kids] take that trauma to heart."
@Chasten on what is being called the "Don't Say Gay" bill in FL.
I can’t stop thinking about how we incarcerate more than any other country while claiming we can’t afford to give basic care, educational opportunities, housing / proper nutrition safety, and medical care for kids and families.
This is so backwards.
You should invest in people.
It's emotionally taxing to have my book(s) banned. But not because they're my books, but because all I can think about is the message it sends to the Black kids who see themselves in my books.
They deserve to have their stories told whether it makes you comfortable or not.
@chrislhayes Great question. I’m a teacher and I haven’t seen any improvements to our ventilation system and I buy my own masks, Lysol, and air purifier.
