@waynebr22957483 It's so sad - she's still there and now they've said she's medically fit for discharge, but the discharge team don't have capacity to support safely so we don't know when that will be π thank you for doing everything you can in these hard times!
My 96 year old nan is in hospital and today got moved to a ward in an outside porta cabin and has been left on a bed outside the toilet as they don't have room for her in a proper bay π she has no call bell and told to shout for help it's- so sad to see the nhs this way π
Started running, signed up to the 5k race for life, then had to stop running due to an injury - so this is definitely going to be a challenge if anyone would like to sponsor me πππΌββοΈ

@Hannah_CEPSW Aw thank you so much - I've been struggling with pain in my legs but just bought new trainers so hoping that will help! And I've signed up to a 5k race in May to give me some accountability to keep going π¬ππΌββοΈ
Just completed my second 5k after doing couch to 5k - not the fastest but so proud of myself for getting out and doing it, brilliant self care after a stressful day ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈ
@Hannah_CEPSW Please tell me it gets easier, I'm on week 5 of couch to 5k and have signed up for a 5k race in May and it feels like it's going to be impossible ππ
@RobMitch92 I work with Adults with Learning Disabilities and today I had an email requesting money for a trip to London and the reason they were asking for so much was because in her words she wanted to go to 'upper class restaurants and eat like a queen' the best email I've had π₯°
Once more for those at the back -
MENTAL CAPACITY IS DECISION-SPECIFIC, you can't "have capacity for life in general".
The MCA 2005 is 18 years old!! Why has this still not sunk in???
@RachelSharples5 We've had similar in our team this week- lady passed away and she has no family so now the state are making all the decisions about her funeral because no one asked her what she would of liked πͺ we're hoping to develop some tools to help us have these conversations in future
Had my final ASYE panel meeting today and it was lovely to hear everyone's feedback about my growth in confidence π₯° equal measures of relieved it's over and being scared of no longer being a NQSW π #ASYE#Newlyqualifiedsocialworker
@RachelSharples5@rye_010 I work with Adults with Learning Disabilites - turn over is nowhere near as busy as when I did my placement in the general community team, but our cases tend to be more complex so it comes with different challenges π
Got amazing feedback from a family after they visited a potential supported living placement today - they said I have demonstrated how well I know him and they can finally relax knowing he's going to have a happy future. The best way to start my annual leave π₯°
Went into work and they'd decorated my desk and the office before I finish to get married π₯Ί working in a wonderful team makes the job so much easier β€οΈ
Having a supervisor who has left all my ASYE paperwork until the last minute has made everything so much more stressful π I need to send it off by the end the week and now I have loads of pieces to complete in 3 days!
@LtbMsw It's so frustrating isn't it - my team are great, but manager has had no time to support me through ASYE and now I'm carrying a caseload above my pay grade because they haven't done their part of my portfolio!
Always remember 1.1 of the Care Act Statutory guidance:
1.1 The core purpose of adult care and support is to help people to achieve the outcomes that matter to them in their life.
Neilβs post well worth a read.
Having a challenging time at the moment and it feels so empowering to be able to turn to my team and management and be supported rather than viewed as weak π₯°
