Is Analgesia Nociception Index™ influenced by patient position under #anaesthesia? New study by Sabourdin et al.... #anesthesia#perioperative#pain

We are delighted to be participating in the @anestesiamerida congress, which brings together healthcare experts from across the region. Alongside our distributor, Conduit Life, we are excited to showcase the advantages of ANI technology and demonstrate its benefits.
We are participating in the GERM (Spanish Multimodal Rehabilitation Group) conference held in Zaragoza, Spain. One of the remarkable technologies being exhibited in the event is the ANI technology, which offers significant benefits to the recovery process of post-op patients.
A lecture was delivered by Fernando Alves, the Head Nurse of the ICU at Centro Hospitalar Vila Nova Gaia Espinho during the CEMI congress in Coimbra, Portugal. The lecture was centered around the advantages of utilizing ANI technology in the ICU, particularly for nurses
When dexmedetomidine is given to a patient the effect is reflected in the ANI monitor, which shows an increase indicating that the patient is experiencing a higher level of analgesia. This proves that what is important is the control of the ANS https://t.co/0whDvFzy9m
In this case, ANI technology was used to detect nociception, which was indicated by a brief spike in blood pressure. To mitigate the sympathetic response, we administered metoprolol and analgesics, resulting in improved ANI values and better blood pressure control.

In a recent observational trial (https://t.co/zT0fMBAror), #ANI technology was shown to be a reliable measure of the autonomic nervous system and its ability to predict #hypotension in laboring mothers who have received spinal/epidural analgesia during #labor.
High BP in a patient may suggest pain, but ANI assessment revealed adequate analgesia. Administering nicardipine lowered BP, but ANI remained stable, ruling out low analgesia as the cause of hypertension.
A new study on nociception associated with pain/distress in young sedated children. The study demonstrates the coloration of ANI with FLACC and VAS scales and how it is a precise continuous way to assess pain in pediatric patients.

When the doctor stimulates the patient, the HFnu value becomes narrower, and the energy value increases reflecting the activation in the autonomic nervous system, however, the heart rate does not change. ANI detects nociceptive stimulation better than HR.

Here we can see how ANI can direct OFA, making it easy for physicians to detect nociception and improve it after. When a metoprolol bolus is given, the ANI value increases detecting nociception, making the doctor treat the patient more precisely.

Here we see when an animal is under #surgicalstress during a procedure, the PTA value decreases. When the patient is given Labetalol bolus, that value increases, exhibiting the drug's effect.

#OFA case by Dr. Ricardo Villamarin shows how ANI can react and detect #nociception while the patient is undergoing a laparoscopic prostatectomy.
In this case the ANI is high reflecting that the patient is comfortable despite the patient's BP is high. A bolus of urapidil was added to lower BP, but the ANI value stayed high, confirming that BP is not related to the nociception in most cases.

NIPE detects the level of comfort and stress before and after a stimulus. While the baby is resting, the NIPE level goes up which reflects the increase in comfort. When taking a blood sample from the baby, we see the level going down as a sign of stress
