𝗙𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗘

A man who posed as a Nairobi City County enforcement officer to extort money from a motorist was on Thursday, 9 July 2026, sentenced by the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court after being convicted of bribery and impersonation.

The conviction followed investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), which established that Osborne Juma Olande falsely claimed to be an enforcement officer attached to the Nairobi City County Inspectorate Department and used the deception to obtain money from a complainant seeking the release of an impounded motorcycle.

Olande was found guilty on four counts of receiving bribes and one count of impersonation after the court established that he misrepresented himself as a Nairobi City County employee with the authority to facilitate the motorcycle's release, thereby misleading the complainant into paying him.

The court fined Olande a total of Kes.237, 000 on all five counts. He will serve a jail term of up to one year in default if he fails to pay the fines.

The ruling underscores the Commission’s continued efforts in the fight against corruption.
