Lions do most of their hunting at night as their eyes have adapted to the dark and this gives them a huge advantage over their prey. They also hunt more during storms as the noise and wind make it harder for prey to see and hear them.
The poet Khalil Gibran said “Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.” I love the idea of trees as poetry. Look at this magnificent, sublime tree in the Great Dismal Swamp. I wonder what wisdom lies within it? (photo by John Henley)
Even surrounded by thick vegetation, gorillas are very selective feeders! Gorillas use their hands and teeth to quickly separate out the tastiest parts of each plant and discard the rest!
