1/3 Polio virus has been found in sewage samples in New York.
Samples found were genetically linked to an unvaccinated person confirmed to have contracted a vaccine-derived strain of the the poliovirus. The virus was also found in the sewage in the greater London area in UK.
Polio is not a disease of the past.
Immunization disruptions during the pandemic have led to outbreaks including in Tajikistan.
UNICEF & our partners are delivering millions of oral polio vaccine doses and supporting a mass rollout.
Even one case is one too many.
