Since we're on the topic, we'd like to uplift the demands made last year by a group of RAs. The way HRL treats its residence staff is appalling. RAs are overworked, exploited, and expected to work UNPAID. Demands are linked here:

UPD officers have been following, harassing, and profiling Black residence staff who are simply trying to do their jobs. UVA continues to demonstrate that they will do nothing to protect Black and brown members of our community.

This goes to show that the role of UPD is not to protect students. Instead, the presence of police on grounds and in cville is a clear and tangible danger to students and community members. Kops don't keep us safe, WE keep us safe. And we can start by getting kops out of cville
