Bridging the gap between the eye test and advanced analytics. Primarily for The Detroit Red Wings but I will cover games from other teams occasionally.
This is the actual core of the Red Wings and people need to come to acceptance with that fact.
Raymond, Kasper, Danielson, Plante, Finnie, MBN, Lombardi, Bear, Genborg.
Seider, Edvinsson, ASP, Johansson, Johansson, Keenan.
Cossa, Augustine, Postava
Larkin, Cat, and Copp will act as our veterans. Yzerman had said over and over again that he's going to build through the draft. They are putting nearly all of their chips into these prospects.
Many of you don't think that these prospects can fill the spots in the top 6. And that's ok. But they think they can.
@weinberg_chaim@NHLRumourReport Larkin wants to leave because the build doesn't revolve around him. Yzerman has said he would build through the draft since he arrived. Larkin got tired of waiting.
@BenjaminMatteau@JFreshHockey Which has happened before with Yzerman. But at the end of all of it the player buckled, played, and Yzerman won the trade.
@BenjaminMatteau@JFreshHockey They're deep enough into their development that I'm pretty comfortable saying they're at least 3Cs. Danielson has me worried with his injuries last year. But other than that I'm pretty confident.
@SpartanDawgsEL@JavonDiggs11322 He was the third best, possibly fourth best player on the team last year.
Seider
Cat
Raymond / Larkin
Seider was in the top 5 best defensemen in the league.
@BenjaminMatteau@JFreshHockey But it's not like Larkin is leaving in free agency.
You have Kasper, a future 2C or 3C.
Danielson, a future 2C or 3C.
And the Larkin return. That's a lot of capital.
@971theticketxyt Yzerman made Drouin wait 18 months to be traded. That's why they said Yzerman won't be bullied into a situation. There is actually precedent, not just yelling into a microphone.
@JFreshHockey I mean are Kasper and Danielson projected that poorly.
Seems to project out similarly to the Wild's situation.
That's not considering what Detroit will get in return for Larkin, which should be hefty.
@WingRaider@BrianFisherLORW Maybe the Debrincat trade confused people. They think we were building around Larkin.
But Cat is here because he wanted to be here. Not because Yzerman was actively building at that time.
Yzerman said he was building through the draft every year and no one would listen.
@CoffeeSacred@LalimesMartian It took Drouin 19 months to be traded.
Larkin is a different caliber player. So it'll be interesting to see how this goes.
@Jennife99697952@LarsThorsell Yea I think the only way Larkin goes there is for some package involving Fantilli.
Kent Johnson isn't even close to enough.
