People want artists to stay in a box, if they do pop? They must do it for their entire career. They don’t want them to experiment with sound. Artists who have done that don’t have longevity.
I love my girl Tyla but nah this isn’t what we expecting & I’ll probably get bashed but TYLA+ & WWP remain undefeated! A*POP flopped lowkey. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
So much of A✷Pop is influenced by the late 2000s & the 2010s era of south african music. She really meant it when she said she reconnected with her inner child🙂↕️
Ngl I understand people not liking the album because it’s their preferences but why is everyone lying and saying it doesn’t sound like African music 😭😭I need y’all to stream South African house music from the early 2010s
a*pop isn’t an african album that happens to have pop songs. it’s an african pop album w the emphasis on POP. tyla has repeatedly said she wants to make pop music through the lens of her south african identity. for grammy nominations, she should be recognised in both the best african music AND pop category. limiting her to one misunderstands this project, in my opinion.
People saying Tyla A*POP has no African sound are overlooking the South African influences throughout the album, especially the sounds of the 2000s and 2010–2018 era. She literally said she wants to show the world that African music isn't one sound there's so much more to it.
