Earlier this week I lost someone close to me. Death is abstract - until it is incredibly real.
He was the wisest, most thoughtful, and most generous person I have known.
I was incredibly fortunate to call him:
- a friend
- a mentor
- a role model
- an inspiration
But most of all, I was fortunate to call him Dad.

Just a couple of months ago, I predicted XRPL would quickly surpass 10M agentic transactions.
XRPL has now hit another milestone, processing over 13M with 166 x402 merchants. Agentic payments now account for roughly 25% of activity on the ledger.
100M might actually come sooner than we expect!
Now is the time to build. Agents are already paying for APIs, data and compute. XRPL’s low fees, fast settlement, and growing AI toolkit give developers the tools to turn that demand into new products. 🚀

1/ This one stings. Our team gave everything we had to get the Clarity Act across the finish line. So did most of the industry. This was an opportunity bigger than Ripple or one company - we did this for the industry, for consumers and to cement the US’s position as the crypto capital of the world and as a leader in the future of finance. Ultimately, consumers and U.S. competitiveness got left behind.
2/ A post mortem needs to be done on why this failed (more from me on that in the days ahead). The politics of the democrats (the anti-crypto army) was elevated over good policy.
3/ There is still reason for optimism for crypto in the United States. Now, the SEC, under Chair Atkins, and the CFTC, under Chair Selig, will continue to work hard to issue rules to fill the legislative gap and we will continue to be actively engaged in that rule making process.
4/ Ripple's business has never been stronger — real demand across traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. A missed vote in Washington doesn't change our momentum, our global footprint, or our customers.
This bill isn't just a compromise…it's the product of real, substantive trades policymakers made to get here.
I said this many months ago: perfect can't be the enemy of good…
and let's be clear: those trades weren't small. This isn't a deal Senators should be ‘settling for’ — it's a deal that they should stand behind.
Senate: the world is watching and voters are watching. Now is the time to vote yes.
I’ve said many times that the CLARITY Act is essential to ensuring America wins the global race for new technology. That’s the reason Congress passed the GENIUS Act: to ensure that stablecoin infrastructure, a revolutionary financial technology, will be built in America.
Ensuring that America’s community bank sector continues to thrive has been a constant focus of mine since day one. And the administration’s dual focus on enabling new digital technology to flourish and appropriately tailoring community bank regulation is key to both sectors driving U.S. economic growth together over the next several decades.
The final draft of the CLARITY Act furthers this mission. It gives the Secretary of the Treasury additional authority to act if the facts around deposit flight change to the detriment of community banks. If stablecoins cause harm to community banks, I will not hesitate to use these tools to ensure they remain fully protected. Community banks are essential to U.S. economic performance and Main Street growth. Economic security is national security, and community banks play a major role in this principle.
A good reminder on how finance still works today… the Central Bank of Netherlands just spent months moving $11B in gold from New York to London.
~70% of it never actually left the ground. It was sold in NYC and repurchased in London. This reminded me of a story from 2013 – Germany took four years (!!) to move 674 tons of gold, worth $36 billion from vaults in Paris and New York.
In the 10+ years between those two stories, crypto went from a $1.5B experiment to a $2.7T asset class + financial infrastructure with real liquidity behind it. What didn't change: central banks (and a lot of the world frankly) still moving value the way they did in the 1940s.
Meanwhile self-driving cars are navigating city traffic, AI has transformed how we work, Starlink gives you internet access from just about anywhere in the world. But the best way to move value isn’t to actually move it? It’s confounding…
This an ideal use case for crypto - storing and then moving value instantly, securely, around the world, at little to no cost. How are people still fighting this?!

The Dutch central bank has transferred approximately 86 metric tons of gold from the U.S. and Canada to the U.K., seeking to shore up its contingency planning amid “increasing geopolitical unrest.”
Just over one quarter of the central bank’s gold reserves held in New York and Ottawa was shifted to London between March and August, the bank said.

Thank you @POTUS for hosting some of America's top leaders in innovation at the @WhiteHouse last month. Under your leadership, we're ensuring that the new frontier of finance is built on American soil.
Our thoughts are with those impacted by the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet.🇳🇵
Ripple is donating $300,000 to @WCKitchen and @MercyCorps to support emergency meal distribution and water and sanitation efforts on the ground.
RLUSD crossed $2B in market cap last week, with close to $1B issued on the XRP Ledger. 📶

No August doldrums in DC this week! It was great to join the inaugural @CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee (a group I've called "the Olympic roster of crypto.") But for a “crypto” gathering, there were a LOT of TradFi players in the room like @NASDAQ, @CMEGroup, @CBOE, @OptionsClearing, @NYSE, @The_DTCC (alphabet soup!)
Everyone was in agreement. Rules written for a different era aren’t good enough. Not for consumers. Not for business. Not for innovation.
I made this case in an open letter to Congress back in 2019. Seven years later, we STILL need clear rules…. Thanks to the Trump administration, appointees like @ChairmanSelig, and a myriad of bold leaders in Congress, we’ve never been closer.

That’s Visa Size" Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse on Moving $16 Trillion, On-Chain Growth & Why Speculation Isn't Sustainable
📌 Video Breakdown & Key Takeaways
💡 The Big Picture
Visa-Level Scale: Ripple touched $16 Trillion in total transactions across its ecosystem last year.
The On-Chain Opportunity: Only 0.1% of that volume currently settles on-chain—meaning every 0.1% shift represents $160 Billion in new volume.
Institutional Demand: CFOs, treasurers, and enterprise CEOs are actively asking how to unlock trapped capital using stablecoins and blockchain rails.
"Last year, we touched $16 trillion of transactions... that's Visa size." Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple CEO
"You have to have utility. If it's just speculation or meme coins, that's not sustainable."
"Each 0.1% is $160 billion... our goal is to move that point-one percent to a much larger number."
"Now we have CFOs and treasurers asking us... 'How can you help us unlock some of that trapped capital?'"
Great to be back at the White House today alongside @realDonaldTrump, @SECPaulSAtkins, @ChairmanSelig and leaders across the crypto industry.
The big picture has never been clearer: 67 million Americans hold crypto today (that’s nearly 1 in 4!). Crypto isn't a fringe industry. And Washington DC knows the crypto voter is alive and well.
This President's incredible commitment to innovation and leadership around digital assets in the US has been profound. The future is bright.

The Clarity Act is a consumer protection bill: strong AML/KYC, real tools for law enforcement and state AGs. Leave it on the table and consumers are left twisting in the wind with the status quo with no clear standards for bad actors to exploit (again).
Perfect can't be the enemy of good. Let's get this done.
Today @TRowePrice launched their first crypto ETF. Its an actively managed basket ETF. Launching during a bear market and i know for a fact this product was years in the making. Legacy asset managers continue to build in the crypto space despite the pullback in prices.
Traditional finance is not being replaced. It is being re-architected on blockchain rails.

In the latest episode of The Onchain Economy, RippleX Head of Engineering @ja_akinyele explains how the XRP Ledger is evolving for institutional use cases across tokenization, stablecoin payments, regulated trading, collateral, credit, and yield.
Together, XRP’s liquidity and utility, regulated assets like $RLUSD, and XRPL’s purpose-built features can support financial markets safely moving onchain.
