Why?

Because he feels ‘uncomfortable’ is a state synonymous with improvement. If it’s difficult it means it’s not habitual nor intuitive, thus signifying something that can be developed.

The world’s leading expert in expertise, Anders Ericsson, would have agreed when he was still alive (he sadly passed a few years ago). He felt that comfort busting training sessions lay at the heart of mastery.

In my practice, I ask coaches (and leaders) to consider two dials - a stretch dial and a support dial. A significant part of the art of helping someone through behaviour change is the use of these dials. Turn the stretch dial and you might turn or leave the support dial. Turn the support dial and you have a choice as to what you do with the stretch dial.

The students are a “captive audience” & their only recourse if they disagree is to leave their own graduation. This law is being trampled by teachers forcing their off topic views in classrooms daily.
