फातिमा शेख जी ने सन 1848 ईस्वी में स्वदेशी पुस्तकालय की स्थापना की उन्होंने इस पुस्तकालय की स्थापना अपने और अपने भाई उस्मान के घर में ही की, जिसको उस समय भारत का पहला ऐसा विद्यालय माना गया जहां लड़कियों को शिक्षा दी गई।
