During the protest, I walked alone towards the main road carrying a placard against the abrogation of Article 370, where I was intercepted & stopped by police personnel. During the intervention I was then manhandled by a woman IPS officer of SP rank, along with other police personnel and her own PSO. The officer allegedly instructed the male PSO to use force against me following which I was dragged by male police personnel.

The woman officer allegedly assaulted the PDP leader and used excessive force while preventing her peaceful protest. We have eyewitnesses to the incident and intend to place the matter before a court of law.

Disturbing reports are emerging from Bihar, UP, West Bengal and other BJP ruled states of youth who participated in the Jantar Mantar protest being arrested. Even more alarming are reports that the overwhelming majority of those targeted are Muslims. This comes despite J.P. Nadda’s assurance that all FIRs against the protesters would be withdrawn. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke must intervene, ensure this promise is honoured, and mobilise legal assistance for those facing prosecution.
